Night Market

The Taiwanese Club (or equivalent) had it's 2nd annual Night Market in our campus plaza today. I was very excited because Milk tea boba was within my reach and I find Taiwanese sausage tasty. But even better, a friend came to visit today before he would leave for a long period of time. My friend Kuan will be leaving for Japan in March for a teaching job. I'm usually horrible and keeping in touch because I try to avoid awkward as much as possible...but I'm really glad I said yes to this one.

One of my life goals is to be a non-awkward old friend. Meaning, if there's a friend I haven't seen in a while and I were to hang out with them, it wouldn't be awkward at all, but rather we would pick up right where we left off and have a grand ol' time. Lovely.

A Pillow and Prayer

Our ministry's annual winter conference is coming up this weekend and we are holding prayer meetings in our room specifically for the conference.

Maybe God is slowly answering that prayer for me to have a heart for these people again. (Maybe slowly isn't the right word because with God, His promises come at just the right time.) I've been so stubborn with this family of believers, but if I'd just give them a chance maybe I could see that we're all the same. We're all the same broken and flawed people seeking for the heart of the Almighty.

Studio Break

I spent a few hours yesterday recording a spoof song for our ministry's winter conference. It made me realize that I am not as good as an emcee as I'd like to be and perhaps I should get going on that.

The recording studio is actually a friend's closet with his fancy microphone hooked up to a macbook in the other room. Yes, we are pro.

Birthday Surprises Galore

This is the second birthday we've celebrated since returning to UCLA. Both were surprises. They were helpful in reuniting everyone so I got to see some people I haven't seen in a long time...and maybe that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.

No Pictures Allowed

Megan and I at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. I got immediately yelled at after this picture was taken because the exhibit we were at did not allowed photography. Hmph. I guess we are quite the piece of art.

I'm back in Los Angeles and there are surely mixed feelings. I was very hesitant about returning to UCLA because...well that's a different story. ;) Let's just say I really miss the kids back home. They kept me sane. But I am thankful for a certain old-time friend that has helped me transitioned into the sanity that is UCLA/ICA/Rieber Vista/etc. She's encouraged me and entertained me and took care of me more than I could ever ask for, more than I deserve. God sure loves me.
